Untraced: Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: August 29, 2026
This policy is part of the Untraced Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses Untraced, operated by Venture Accelerator LLC.
The rule everything else follows from
Untraced is for finding and removing your own personal information.
You may run a scan on a phone number you personally control, and on family members who have given their own consent through the invitation process. That is the entire permitted use.
Untraced is not a people-search tool, and it may not be used to look up, locate, monitor, profile, or investigate anyone else. This is why we require you to verify the phone number by text message before we show any record, and why we do not offer search by name or address.
Uses that are prohibited
Looking up other people
- Running a scan on a number you do not control and have not been invited to
- Trying to get around phone verification, by any means
- Using someone else's account, or letting someone use yours, to view records
- Creating multiple accounts to run scans on numbers that are not yours
Locating or monitoring a person
- Finding, tracking, or monitoring anyone without their knowledge and consent
- Stalking, harassing, threatening, intimidating, or abusing anyone
- Locating a person who has taken steps to keep their whereabouts private, including anyone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Any use connected to domestic violence, harassment, or intimidation
We treat these as the most serious violations. We terminate immediately, without refund, and we cooperate with law enforcement.
Decisions covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act
Untraced is not a consumer reporting agency and what we show you is not a consumer report. You may not use Untraced, or anything you see in it, to make or influence decisions about any person's:
- credit or lending
- insurance
- employment, promotion, retention, or reassignment
- housing or tenancy
- eligibility for a license, benefit, or government program
- any other purpose covered by the FCRA
This applies whether the person is you or someone else. Using consumer data for these purposes outside an FCRA-compliant process can violate federal law.
Misusing the service itself
- Scraping, crawling, or bulk-extracting data from Untraced
- Automating access, or using bots, scripts, or headless browsers against the service, without our written permission
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to derive our source code
- Reselling, sublicensing, or redistributing Untraced or its output
- Building a competing product from our service or data
- Probing, scanning, or testing our security without written authorization
- Interfering with the service, overloading it, or circumventing rate limits
- Uploading malware, or using the service to distribute it
Fraud and misrepresentation
- Impersonating another person, or claiming an authority you do not have
- Providing false information at signup or during verification
- Fraudulent payment, chargeback abuse, or stolen payment methods
- Falsely claiming to be an authorized agent for another person
Who may not use Untraced
We do not permit accounts used for, or on behalf of:
- private investigation, skip tracing, debt collection, or process serving
- background screening of employees, tenants, or contractors
- credit, insurance, or lending decisions
- law enforcement or government investigative use, which must go through proper legal process rather than a consumer account
- data brokerage, list building, lead generation, or people-search services
- any business whose purpose is locating or profiling individuals
Untraced is for individuals and their families. It is not an investigative tool and we do not sell it as one.
Reporting a violation
If you believe someone is using Untraced against you, or against someone else, email support@stayuntraced.com. Tell us what you can and we will investigate.
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. In the United States, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-799-7233.
What happens if this policy is broken
Depending on what we find, we may warn you, restrict features, suspend or terminate your account without refund, keep records of the violation, and report it to law enforcement. Serious violations, particularly those in the "locating or monitoring a person" section, result in immediate termination.
We may change this policy as new kinds of misuse appear. The effective date above will change when we do.
